Just a light story. One friend from Thailand told us, in his country and most of the Asia countries,  elephants somehow is more respected than human.  His father in law has one elephant, the elephant can make a lot of money, He rent it to local tourist agent as carrier to explore deep into Siam rain forest.  And he will earn around Bath 13,000 per month while it’s master only get Bath 2,000 per month.  But to feed the elephant also cost much money and finally the owner only get Bath 4,400 nett per month. To simplify imagination how much this elephat can eat, he said “3 kgs of water melon can be swallowed in one shot”.

The price of elephant is vary depend on age and sex. Ten years old cost about RM 18,000 and 25 years old about RM 70,000. Same price if you buy one Proton Wira. And you can make money from him, rent it to carry logs for example.

This animal has so much power to do job that others can not be tailored to do so. In Burma, one rig site is on high elevation area and all the things like rig and supplies during rig up are transported by Chinook. But when drilling elephant took over the chopper tasks, because it’s much cheaper than to operate chopper. So his task is tobe a courier between rigsite and village which the distance about 0ne kilometers but the track slopped 30 degree. He will deliver all kind of supplies like food materials, rig material  etc, we just pack the stuffs and hook up on its body. Slap on his butt and he go automatically to rigsite and material man on rigsite will prepare stuffs to be brought back to the village. This elephant even has worker id card.

But do not send him when breeding period, you can identify when the period is. Normally the male will produce hormons and you can see on ears and eyes some gels will coming out. When you see it, man you better don’t touch them, they are tempramentally.  They can slap you and throw you.  So animal is not thing funny as your kid’s  dolls. One time people at village  sent him to rig to carry the cooking stuffs in his period but elephant went to the jungle to find female. After so many days the elephant arrived at the wellsite’s camp with no supplies on it only a few kgs of onions.

Other story, one male elephant chased the female in one village, just to make love he ruined three houses.

The master also need to take care the elephant well, elephant normally can be trained to do some tasks but their stomach have to be filled up first. One story because the master is neglect to feed it. A car slip out the road and almost fall of to river, then elephant used to pull the car to back. The master tie up the car and attach to elephant, but the elephant jumped to river and drag car to river instead to pull it back to the road. This because his elephant haven’t eat.

The myth: female elephant will know if the master has affair to other woman, because she smell different odor than usual. A master killed by elephant just because of this. She just swing her neck to let the master fell of, once her master on the ground her foot straight away squeeze the master with no mercy.
